Welcome,

If you would like to know more about this complicated condition we hope we can help.

The goal of the OCD Centre is to provide the highest quality care for people living with OCD.  We also aim to raise awareness amongst the general public and professionals.  Our specialist therapists have considerable experience in the field of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).

OCD is a chronic, multi-faceted, multi-dimensional matrix of obsessions and compulsions.  It cannot be reduced to a specific symptomology and is therefore uniquely difficult to treat. No one incidence of OCD is the same as another - obsessions and compulsions are as varied as the people who suffer from them.

The intractability of OCD has confounded the clinical world, and effective psychopharmacological and psychotherapeutic interventions have been elusive. No medication or therapeutic approach has succeeded in completely eliminating OCD. Today, OCD remains a lifespan condition where long-term management is the optimum outcome.

We have found that the idiosyncracies of OCD require an integrative, process-based approach. Cognitive behavioural modalities have proven to be more helpful than most.  Our treatment philosophy is based on a cognitive behavioural model known as Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT).  But our experience shows that any effective treatment must range beyond a single therapeutic model.

Treating OCD successfully is among the most challenging and rewarding of therapeutic roles. We can offer a wide range of education and training-based services to assist the clinical profession in the etiology, prognosis and treatment of OCD.

A full range of practitioner services will be available soon. Please check back here regularly or email here to be informed when they go live.
